Tuesday's Truth

What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.

A finger in every pot

Because I don't have enough on my plate, and Motil twisted my arm ever so gently (not really), I'm taking a ceramics class after school on Thursdays.  Sooo glad I did, its so much fun!

Here I am, rocking the skull and crossbones apron with my oddly
shaped pot. It kinda looks like two different pots stuck together,
but oh well!
I made a really sweet leaf for the handle of the lid, we'll see if the whole thing doesn't explode in the kiln.

Tuesday's Truth (a little late, but whose counting)

You have to know what you stand for, not just what you stand against.

Bourbon Trail

Had a fun weekend out in Kentucky following the Bourbon Trail
while celebrating a friend's birthday.

As always, I get in a lot in a short amount of time. We hit seven distilleries in two days and
still had time to wander around horse country in Lexington.
While no quilt shops were open on Sunday, we did discover quite a few barns with
quilt blocks painted on them.

It's amazing to think that this barn is worth more than twice what my house is worth.
I think I'm in the wrong business!

Whew! It was a whirlwind trip, but I'm glad to be home and have a day off to be a slug before the work week starts back up again. Enjoy your President's Day!

It really is winter!

Wow! It really is winter!
Getting a couple of inches of snow this evening, don't think I'll get a snow day out of it,
but you all can do the snow dance too!

Rule # 341

Personal Rule #341: If you pick something up at the free table, you have to sew it into something quick, becasue you don't have room for it in your stash!

So the beautiful yard of "Poppy Silhouette" by Laura Gunn became two great new pillows for my couch.

And then, because once you pull out fabric it doesn't want to be put away,
I decided to play around with pouch patterns and
zippers.
Just practicing, you know.
'Cause I can.

Not bad for my first try.
Might just have to make a mess of these for friends and family.
But lets not stop there.

A little coin purse, too!
Believe it or not, but the boxy pouch was easier to make than the coin purse.
I think it was the size, bigger is better I guess.

The only problem is that I am quickly going through my zipper stash.
This is all I have left!

My favorite place to get zippers is at estate sales (can you say "I'll take all of them for $1.00"?).
Guess I need to start estate saling again!

I know I have said it before, but I will say it again.. I love my Modern Quilt Guild! Every meeting there is something new and inspirational and fun. So here's the latest.....
We are having another swap, a pouch swap!
The best part is that we can stalk each other on line to see what our swappee (is it really a word, does it really matter?) likes and we can really make our pouches with a real person in mind!
So to help that process along, I decided to see what was out there and give my swapper
a little peak into my likes.
Funny thing is that it also gives me a chance to see what I like too!
So here is a mosaic of a few of my favorite things others have posted on line.
I really like the travel bag I guess!
1. Travel pouch -patty young, 2. pouch from weekend sewing, 3. Pretty {Little} Pouch, 4. pouch swap 1, 5. inside of wallet, 6. Audrey pouch for?...., 7. Curvey Pouch Exterior, 8. received!!!, 9. Woven Pouch for PLP Swap, 10. PLPS3 finished (1), 11. Pretty Little Pouch Swap 3, 12. PLP3 received (2), 13. PLP Package from Rebecca!, 14. pretty little pouch swap round 2, 15. Pretty {little} Pouch Swap - Take 3!, 16. Pretty {little} Pouch Swap

I'm kinda surprised I don't have more blue pouches, but maybe I just didn't see many.
Obviously I like greys!

Tuesday's Truth

It is wise to choose to fish instead of cut bait. But its wiser to realize when the fish aren't biting to go home and make fried chicken.

Busy Busy

Somehow my time is either endless or evaporating faster than a raindrop in the desert.

I've been busy lately, have been out with various friends almost (and by almost I mean 7 out of 9 nights)every night for the past week or so, managed to read an Elizabeth Berg novel, We are All Welcome Here, that I didn't like at first but it grew on me, baked pizza shells and bread and cookies, started a ceramics class,
and in the three days that were my weekend (Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday), I managed to
quilt three, yep, THREE quilts for customers. A full size, a large lap size, and a king.

Phew! I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!

I forgot to post this pic from my "hike" (more like slip and slide trail run) last weekend.

This is up on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River on the Lewis and Clark Trail in Weldon Springs. Way down below is the Katy Trail, a popular Rails to Trails biking and walking trail. The pic is pretty deceiving, its quite a drop off just past those trees.
