Never know what you'll find

Everyone has a dirty little secret, and I guess its time for mine to be revealed.

I have been known to dumpster dive. 

Actually, its more like curb shopping. My headboard and footboard that look like they are from Pottery Barn are actually from the end of some neighbor's driveway, cleaned up and painted black. Even the night stands are from garage sales, redone.

Usually I reserve such scavanging for the weekends, on my own. But this time even a date couldn't stop me. Because there it was, the perfect dresser. I actually contemplated driving by and coming back alone later, but I couldn't help myself. Its perfect. Exactly what I was looking for; its got curves and grace and charm, and only needs a drawer fixed, some new knobs, and a coat of paint.

Thank goodness my date was understanding and willing to help put it in the back of the Prius, because I probably would have torn up my arms, back, and bumper wrestling it in and out of the car. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and sanded down, not sure what color I'll paint it. Gotta find 10 vintage glass knobs... salvage company here I come! Best part is that it was free! And to think I almost bought a dresser at IKEA this summer. Now to find the time to work on it....
